“Davide Sacco’s new production Quelli che si allontanano da Omelas, inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin’s short story of the same name, starring Eva Robin’s and featuring music by La Mano Sinistra, will premiere this weekend at Teatri di Vita in Bologna. In the best tradition of ErosAntEros – POLIS Teatro Festival, the performance envelops you in the political dimension of a reinterpretation of the issue of tolerance, respect for the thoughts of others, and the vision of a world that, in pursuit of plasticized happiness, ends up ignoring the essential conditions of individual freedom and self-determination. Carried along by a pounding soundtrack, enveloped by the minimal but powerful lighting of a conceptually ‘minimal’ but absolutely complete set design, the audience is led along a path of extreme relevance, which does not provide answers but helps us to reflect on the days of war, oppression, and political confusion we are experiencing. In short, it is yet another opportunity to confirm how theater can help us live without necessarily being bound by the most common media stereotypes.
