May 3-8 2022 . POLIS Teatro Festival . Ravenna
To celebrate its fifth edition, POLIS Teatro Festival goes beyond the national borders and widens its perimeter of action. It goes beyond the borders of the city, multiplying the events scheduled and spreading them among Teatro Alighieri, Teatro Rasi, Teatro Socjale, Arteficerie Almagià. It goes beyond national borders, hosting the Italian premieres of international artists such as Pascal Rambert and Ivica Buljan, within a special focus dedicated to the contemporary French dramaturgy that projects the festival towards a new European dimension. This focus programs and coproduces a group of artists who, from different perspectives, explore the theatrical languages of a specific geographic area: not performances of a single language or nation, but paths in which authors and artists meet.
POLIS 2022 exceeds perhaps its own possibilities by programming in a difficult and uncertain moment more than 20 events, promoting dialogue between cultures and different generations of artists, scholars and spectators, pursuing the idea of a theater that fights marginality and becomes a place of fiction where to face the evils of the present.
Central themes of the festival will be the violence between human beings and against our only common home the Earth, conflicts, migration, violation of fundamental rights.
Simone Weil, protagonist of the drawing by Gianluca Costantini, will be the image of the festival.
