Furthermore, there were many other international events at this POLIS Festival, including the revival of Medea Material, the widely staged text by Heiner Müller. Agata Tomšič—acting as both performer and director (and appearing quite undressed)—regenerated the harsh, dark glimmers of this descent into myth. Then, thanks to a powerful, almost Klimt-like golden cloak, she managed an ascent back toward the present, where the theme of the foreigner (and of Medea as a foreign woman) reverberates fiercely within current debates on patriarchy. This was further heightened by the score by Matevž Kolenc, a former collaborator of the barbaric, industrial Slovenian music band Laibach.
