What does a festival mean to you, and what role should the community that experiences it play?

At the heart of my vision of theatre there has always been a ‘here and now’ dimension, in which a community comes together to see itself reflected and to reflect on its present, past and future. It is a melting pot of encounters, and it is the very reason why I wake up in the morning and the driving force that has kept me going ever since I decided to make theatre my life. As a programme director and artist, I feel a strong sense of civic responsibility: bringing art to people is my passion, the desire to stir things up, to spark unexpected lines of thought through debate, even through performances that divide opinion. It’s not just about introducing experimental work, but about becoming architects of a journey shared with the audience.
