Agata Tomšič will participate with the following contribution:

IMAGINATION AS A TOOL TO TRANSFORM REALITY
Starting from the Benjaminian idea of the dialectic image as a place where different historical times meet and allow us, for lightning moments, to read the present in a new way, combined with George Didi-Huberman’s interpretation of it to underline the intrinsic politicalness of all images and through it the revolutionary power of imagination, I will analyse the work of some contemporary theatre artists who, in a completely different but in my opinion similar way, use very refined dramaturgical and often imaginative devices to manipulate the collective imagination and the reality in which we live. Starting from the practices I have experienced in the work of ErosAntEros, I will reflect on dramaturgy as a tool through which to compare different orders of reality – through the technique of montage and quotation – as well as, as a political tool with which since antiquity the artist situates himself in and interacts with his own time, sharing some examples taken from the works and interviews given by Romeo Castellucci and Milo Rau. From the theatre as a place of the epiphany of images (and words) of the first, to the realism that allows “to penetrate into an image as in a daydream” of the second, tracing differences and similarities, I will reflect on the theatrical hic et nunc, as a place where everything is possible, even overturning the roles of our society and inventing a new one.
